Busty and the Bass

Bio

Busty and the Bass have spent a decade building toward the release of Eddie, their sophomore full length released on Arts & Crafts in August 2020. Transforming from an instrumental campus party band to playing international festivals and selling out theatres across North America, the band rallied around friendship, a love for performing music, and a focus to uplift listeners to make a true statement album.

Eddie pulls from a 50 year history of soul, funk, and jazz that distills it into a singular record which feels both timeless and of-the-moment: Old school legends of the form like George Clinton (Parliament Funkadelic) and Macy Gray lend their talents, along with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Neal Pogue (Earth, Wind & Fire, Outkast, Tyler the Creator), creating an album full of new school sounds.

Ouri

Bio

Ourielle Auvé, known professionally as Ouri, grew up in France and moved to Montreal at the age of 16 with dreams of becoming a composer. As Ouri developed her compositional ability, as well as her production and vocal chops, she integrated herself with late night DJ sets in Montreal’s underground rave scene and was eventually selected to take part in Red Bull Music Academy’s Montreal Bass Camp. From there, her profile began to grow as she headlined Boiler Room’s Montreal showcase, toured with the likes of Yves Tumor and Jacques Greene, and released her first EP’s Superficial and We Share Our Blood.

Ouri’s multi-instrumental talents and classical training steer her approach to melody and bass in emotive, bold and playful ways. Pairing traditional song structure with abstract soundscapes, she creates unparalleled tension between aggressive rhythms and soothing harmony. At the centre of it all lies Ouri’s ethereal voice; her words and melodies lay ground for a soulful, emotional honesty that swirl around deftly produced arrangements of harp, cello, steel guitar, synthesizer and a mélange of percussion.
